Fun with paint
This blog is about my "alter" ego as an artist. The medium is the message with these works. Paint on paper, canvas or other supports just for the color, texture and juxtaposition with other color. Please visit My traditional artblog http://trudybentleyrechtheartist.blogspot.com/

Have you seen time flying?
Well, it has. I have been here all along but my art work has suffered from having two new but wonderful puppies. Now 15 months old, they are filling almost all my time during the day. The female mini Aussie, Cassie, loves to play ball.
My studio also moved from a room in the house to the garage. I am still adjusting to the move. I am doing most of the planning in the house via Corel Painter and working in the studio space for actual execution of the work.
The emphasis is on drawing right now because it is HOT (summer in Florida is not conducive to working in unairconditioned spaces.

still having fun, just not publishing
OK, it appears I have neglected all of my blogs. Time to show the fun. Stay tuned for some colorful surprises in the next couple weeks.

Written to Distraction page one
I have horrible vision, but it is correctable. My eyes are healthy but warped. When I read or paint I tend to see color where it may not be seen by others. This is especially true when I read. So...I find myself compelled to make suggestions of writing in a series of paintings which follows.
This one is called Storybook Cover

Parallel pieces
I have been very industrious during this summer. For each more traditional representational piece, I seem to produce an abstract piece. I have grouped these pieces into two series and will add them to my website soon, but for now, I will post one at a time.
Hanging piece
Bought a bathing suit this summer that came on a hanger I just couldn't wait to get home. While I like the bathing suit a lot, the hanger it came on was more important to me. I "redressed" this hanger to fit in the gallery bathroom.
The red crochet suit was something I made years ago. I actually did wear it once or twice, but not to the beach. I call this installation, Summer Body with bird mask.
The shirt is a Carol Kane camp shirt I "had to have" but have worn only a couple times more than the suit. Because of the tropical location it may be appropriate to keep this ensemble on the hanger all year, but time will tell.

24: A triptych
This is a quick shot of a triptych. Each part has its own title. The top long piece is called begin and end, the darker blue piece on the left is night and the last image on the right is day!
I photographed the three pieces on a piece of corregated cardboard placed on the floor while standing directly above it. If I ever choose to exhibit my experimental pieces, I will document them more carefully and when ready to hang...but this is about FUN. I will have to add a detail shot or two to show the way the color works together and the texture. Next up will be a couple three dimensional objects.

Experimental work
I am a traditional artist for the most part, but I love paint. Just playing with color is exciting. So, I use my "leftover" mixed colors from other paintings to make small works just about color, pattern and texture.
Most galleries don't like it when artists have more than one body of work, but this part of me has to have an outlet, so I started this blog. Hope you enjoy both types of work. I love Albers and Frankenthaller as well as Fechin, Leffel and Monet. The medium is the message with these pieces.
